Local Barra

We met up with one of the locals who Dru used to work with Bambo who was kind enough to take us on a local tour of his house and family's grounds.
What a truly amazing experience. Bambo and his family own quite a big piece of land with a stunning view over the ocean and the rest of the Barra landscape.

Their home is a small and humble abode but full of life and love.

The kids showed us ho to climb the coconut trees, I am yet to try it at home. I have already made the doctors appointment for once I come down - at speed!

Then have you ever in your life seen ducks that eat coconuts. Well not only do these ducks have the best coconuts in town, as we had the opportunity to taste is first hand after the kids came back down from the trees, they also have it in abundance along with cashew nuts and actual bird food (just for good measure)

The other corner of the property is for the pigs, Dru had to restrain me to not buy one as a pet. Luckily the car was so full I couldn't fit it in.  They were too cute, but mommy pig was not all too happy that her babies were thinking nothing about coming to take a sniff at the camera. It was a rather noisy affair.

Local style buildings, very different from the Southern end of Mozambique where we live.

Then from Bambo's house we took a drive to some of the other lodges and surrounds in the direct area around his house. Amazing how from one end you can be in the bush, with small bicycle tracks which take you home and then just next door there is a super rich development taking place.

Hope the area continues to keep its authenticity, as development in the area is over the top.
