Casa Barry Beach Resort

Casa Barry Beach Lodge is the home of the marine mega fauna foundation which has an on site marine research centre specialising in Manta Rays and Whale Sharks.

Scientists give talks on the local marine life every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The pics below is painted on the Casa Barry Bar and Restaurant floor which leads into the lecture room where the talks are held.
Dr. Andrea Marshall (The Manta Queen) and Dr. Simon Pearce (The Whale Shark Whisperer) are both permanently based on the Casa Barry premises.
Dr. Andrea Marshall was the first person in the world to complete a PhD on Manta Rays. After completing her thesis in 2008, she stayed on in Mozambique to start this project which has since become so successful and well known around the world, the Dr. Marshall has become somewhat of a celebrity in her own field.

She was the first person to discover that there are in fact two species of Manta Rays and not one.

We had the pleasure of meeting Libby the research assistant and office manager, for a few great dives.

We would definitely recommend a visit to Casa Barry and supporting the talks about the local marine life. Its is for a great cause and they are very informative, which makes you fall in love with the ocean all over again.
