Southern Mozambique

So off I am on my next adventure. This time it has taken me to the most Southern point in Mozambique. Just North of a small town called Ponta do Ouro "Point of Gold", so named because early Portuguese explorers got slightly muddled over their maps and thought that gold might be found here. Instead they found that the dunes were rich in Titanium.

I found myself in a small resort called Ponta Mamoli which use to be part of an old Titanium mine before the war. After the war part of the old house which was still standing was refurbished to establish a small diving area and kitchen for a then camp site, as it is situated along a beautiful coastline and one of the top twenty beaches on the African coast.

A few years later the property was bought by another investor who turned it into a small log cabined holiday resort and then again a few years later, new investors with new ideas to create a resort unlike any other in Mozambique. This is were my story begins, life in Mozambique through the old to the new. Blood, sweat and a few tears as the saying goes, but also some fun along the way, and lots of new friends and stories.
