Wookey Hole & Caves

The Wooky Hole and Cave system is situated in the Cheddar Gorge area. Spectacular scenery once again as you drive through the rolling hills towards this cave system which has also been turned into a theme park for young and old to enjoy.

The caves itself is stunning and they have incorporated a theme of witches and wizards which makes for a great fairy tale meaning that even the youngest of kids can understand some of the fascination of these caves.

Also very interesting is the uniqueness of these caves to the town Cheddar, which obviously makes you think of cheese. Well deep within the caves they have a cordoned off area in a cage like structure and here they store new churned cheese to age. The caves temperature and humidity makes it a perfect cheese factory. Once you leave the caves some of the "cave aged" cheese is set out to taste and you can buy some it in the gift shop.

Great idea??? Well yes, but somewhat smelly caves....

The caves are also used for cave diving. Sounded like a great idea to me, but Dru was less than happy when we figured out what the temperature of the water is. Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Our home for the evening... Doesn't look like much from the outside, but very unique and comfortable.
Great breakfast in the morning cooked by the owners wife who originates from the Philippines.
